 Ureteric Reimplantation

The ureters are the tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder. Ureteral reimplantation is surgery to change the position of these tubes where they enter the bladder wall.

How is ureteral reimplantation performed?

The patient is given a general anesthetic to put them to sleep. The surgeon goes in and detaches the ureter. They then create a new hole in a better position, making a tunnel for the ureter between the bladder wall and muscle. The ureter is then put into its new position and stitched into place.
